Community Involvement

One of the defining characteristics of the JSCA community is ongoing level of participation in various programs, events and community outreach.

Education - we provide members ongoing learning opportunities throughout the year.  These largely focus on Jewish themes and interests. Recent topics include:

• The Origins of Jewish Comedy, 
• History of Jewish Music, 
• Who are the American Jews and a 
• Virtual Tour of the new Southern Jewish Museum.

Social Activity Programs - include a wide range of activities which are designed to strengthen our warm and inclusive community.  These events include book clubs  picnics, walking tours, live theater, music events and even a baseball game.

Social Justice Programs - typically engage the wider Asheville community, both Jewish and non-Jewish in alignment with Tikun Olam, to heal the world. We offer opportunities for our members to be educated and inspired by engaging or advocating for social change. We have partnered with such organizations as 

• Carolina Jews for Justice, 
  
• Manna Food Bank and or 
  
• Jewish Family Services.
