Secular Humanistic Judaism –Exploration and Discussion
The Education Committee is pleased to announce the launch of a peer-led small group discussion series that will examine fundamental concepts of Secular Humanistic Judaism. Readings, podcasts and/or videos will be provided prior to each session and will serve as a basis for discussion. Directions to the meeting location and guidance for accessing informational resources will be provided to those who rsvp.
Session 1: Secularism, Humanism and Spirituality … Where do they overlap and how are they different? Sunday, September 22, 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the home of Doris Potash in Weaverville.
Session 2: What do Secular Humanistic Jews Believe? How can “saying what we believe and believing what we say” deepen our connection to Judaism? Sunday, October 27, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. Location to be announced.
Session 3: What is meant by “doing Jewish?” How can we incorporate more Jewishness into our daily lives? How can Secular Humanistic Judaism help us meet life’s challenges? Sunday, November 17, 3:00 –4:30 p.m. Location to be announced.
